A Study on US Cyberspace Strategy

(By Cui Jianshu)

Abstract: As an “artificial space”, cyberspace has become mankind’s fifth-dimensional space after land, sea, air and space. In view of the relevant strategic reports approved by the US government in recent years, the US has formulated a series of cyberspace strategies, including strategy of seeking cyber dominance, strategy of “Cyber-Centered Warfare” by means of enhancing strike effectiveness of weapons through cyber-endowed energy, strategy of cyberspace security and strategy of employing cyberspace as a means to infiltrate into other countries politically and ideologically. Obviously, the US planned cyberspace strategies have achieved some results, doing the US a good service of gaining considerable interests in political, security, economic and military fields. However, the openness of cyberspace has increased the US’ vulnerability as well. If the thousands of computer viruses the US developed to maintain its dominance in cyberspace, as the so-called “logic bombs”, fall into the hands of terrorists, its consequences are too dreadful to think of.
