Americans in Shanghai

Posted:2016-09-29

One of the SIAS’ flagship projects, Americans in Shanghai, is a book series about American nationals living and working in the city. By uncovering their personal journey to China and their rise to success, the books give insights into the development of Shanghai from the perspective of American expats. The Chinese edition of Volume 1 was published by the Zhongxi Book Company in 2013, followed by its English version and a bilingual Volume 2. The books have received a lot of favorable response from the public and won the third prize in the publication category at the 13th Silver Dove Awards in Shanghai.

The first two volumes feature about 40 people, all of whom have succeeded in their various fields. The American expat community in Shanghai still shows a growing number of hard-working people who have dedicated themselves to making Shanghai a better place. Therefore we are delighted to extend our initiative and continue to shed light on these inspiring stories, and provide insights into the indispensable role American expats in Shanghai play in strengthening Sino-US ties.
