On December 13, 2019, the Crisis Management and Counter-Terrorism ResearchCenter at SIAS held the “2019 Global Counter-Terrorism Review and Prospects forFuture Studies” conference, where participants discussed  the global counter-terrorism posture in 2019and the focus of future counter-terrorism studies. 

The meeting was moderated by Professor Zhang Jiadong, Directorof the Crisis Management and Counter-Terrorism Research Center at SIAS and Directorof the Center for South Asian Studies at Fudan University. Participants lookedback on new terrorism developments and the counter-terrorism posture in theMiddle East, South Asia and Southeast Asia, and the terrorist ideologies of theISIS era, as well as the regional counter-terrorism institution-building efforts.They also shared their views on the research focus of the year ahead. Academicsfrom Peking University, Fudan University, the Shanghai University of PoliticalScience and Law, the Shanghai University of International Studies, the ShanghaiAcademy of Social Sciences (SASS), and the Shanghai Institutes forInternational Studies (SIIS) joined SIAS research staff at the meeting.
